about

(c) 2009 Adjoa Skinner

This track was initially recorded as a demo with Robb Gilligan on a night when we stayed up til around 4am recording demos of my songs for Charlie Peacock to listen through.... I think we recorded 12 songs in that one night.

This song came in somewhere around the 1 or 2am hour but we were in such a peaceful state when it happened that when Ellis Burman (the engineer for "Songs For Tall Women") heard the demo he instantly wanted to record it with strings!

So I went back into the studio and added the vocal harmony and re did the piano line on the baby grand... the best part was having Julia Wood add cello.

This track didn't make it on the "Songs For Tall Women & The Short Men Who Love Them" CD because it belonged here :-) I do hope you agree.
I really feel that it is the perfect ending to this collection of songs.

lyrics

What have I done,
what I have I done
what have I done
leaving You so far behind

And why did I run
why did I run
why did I run
when I was so lost and blind

Speak

Tell me the truth
Tell me the truth
Tell me the truth
Did I miss out when I left

And how could you love
how could you love
how could you love
how could you love me til the death?

Speak to me
Cause I need to hear You speak

at the end of the day You wash me in grace
and I'm made clean again
I'm made clean

at the end of the day
You wash me in grace
and I'm made clean again
I'm made clean again

I'm made clean
oooohhhhh ooooohooo

Look what You've done
Look what You done
Look what You've done

I am new
because of You!
Speak to me
Cause I need
yeah I need to hear You
