When I lived in South Africa I was there as a young student.
It was the first time I'd ever spent more than 4 months away from home.
It was nearly a year where I couldn't see my family and friends that I grew up with.
But what I found was that it was a safe place for me to learn who I was apart from them.

I was exhausted. School was so taxing but I couldn't help but write and sing in any free time I could squeak out.

I listen back to this recording and think "wow I'm so chill when singing and the words are heavy"...

But submission to something greater than me was the easiest thing to do... complete abandon to a Creator that showed Himself to care for me and love me.... seemed like the most sane thing to do.

It was living in South Africa where I started to truly share what made me come alive most. I loved music so much that in every spare moment I would sit down to process what I was learning through song.
Most of that processing came out as a cry from my heart.
To not only grow into knowing who I was.. but to realize that finding myself truly came from seeking to know more of my Creator.
And in knowing Him to not only believe that He loves me...but that he knows me completely and still loves me.
